Functionality
Control Pilot Monitoring
The WOC monitors the Control Pilot (CP) it can detect the voltage level and the PWM duty %. It broadcasts the measurements over CAN, which allows the on board charger to be controlled in accordance with the charge station's allowed parameters.
Proximity Resistance Monitoring
The WOC monitors the resistance between the Proximity Pilot pin and the PE pin. This allows it to detect the presence of a charging cable in the socket, and to determine the current rating of the cable.
| Cable Type | Resistance |
|---|---|
| 13A | 1.5kΩ |
| 16A | 680Ω |
| 32A | 220Ω |
RGB LED Control
The WOC has three high side drivers designed to control an RGB LED. The operation of the LEDs is controlled via CAN command, this allows the BMS or VCU controlling the charge session to indicate the status to the operator.
Socket Lock Control
The WOC features an H-Bridge motor driver allowing it to control most types of charge socket lock actuators. The type of actuator is configurable via CAN.
CAN Bus Bootloader
Like all PIC based EVParts products the WOC comes loaded with a CAN Bus bootloader. This allows firmware updates to be performed in the field using a USB CAN adapter.
